NORWOOD—Funeral Services for 63 year old Roderick C. "Rod" Cota, a resident of 6 Grove Street, Norwood, will be held Tuesday, July 11, 2017 at 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Parishville with Pastor Pedro Morallis presiding. Burial will follow the services at the Hale Cemetery in Norfolk. Family and friends may call at the Buck Funeral Home in Norwood on Monday from 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. Mr. Cota passed away tragically on July 5, 2017. Rod is survived by his wife of 46 years, Patsy, Norwood; his son, Richard and Carolyn Cota, Riverside, CA; his four daughters, Kathryn and Dale Strader, Springhill, TN; Karyn and Ronald Betts, Camillus, NY; Michelle and Scott Skeels, Norwood, NY; Sara and Craig Demers, Pleasant Hill, CA; his beloved fifteen grandchildren; Megan and Lauren Cota; Austin, Ashlyn, Cole, Chloe, Jordyn and Jesse Strader; Cassie, Nikki and Davyn Betts and Stephanie, Jacob, Liam and Ava Skeels. Rod is also survived by his mother, Evelyn Cota, Great Bend, Kansas; his three brothers, Chester and Linda Cota, Norwood; Roland and Paulette Cota, Alexandria, LA; Stuart and Linda Cota, Canton, NY and his two sisters, Christine and Brian Hoyler, Painted Post, NY and Sheryl and Ralph Kent, Great Bend, Kansas as well as several nieces and nephews. Born in Star Lake, NY on October 4, 1953 to Chester L. and Evelyn Ladison Cota, Rod graduated from Potsdam High School in 1971 and received an Associate's Degree from SUNY Canton. Rod married Patsy McDonald on February 19, 1971. He was the former owner and operator of Cota's Flooring in Norwood and also was the Pastor at the Brookdale Wesleyan Church. Currently, Rod was employed with the R.B. Lawrence Ambulance Service in Canton as the EMS Supervisor as well as a Critical Care Technician for the past 12 years. Rod was a member of the Potsdam Rescue Squad and was a faithful communicant of the Parishville Baptist Church and enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Rod also enjoyed woodworking, reading and most of all, helping others.
