Obituary of Dawn E. LaBarge

NORFOLK—Dawn Elizabeth (King) LaBarge, 78, (formerly of 44 West High Street, Norfolk, NY), passed away peacefully November 26, 2016 at the home of her daughter in Laconia, NH surrounded by family. Dawn had been a resident of Clipper Harbor Nursing Home, Portsmouth, NH since January 2016. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, December 3, 2016 at 10 a.m. at The Church of the Visitation in Norfolk with Rev. Msgr. John Murphy presiding. Burial will follow at the Visitation Cemetery, Norfolk. Family and friends may call at the Buck Funeral Home in Norwood on Friday from 3-7 p.m. Dawn was born in Norwood, NY to Kenneth and Doris (Bockus) King on July 20, 1938. She graduated with honors in 1956 from Norwood-Norfolk High School. She was a homemaker and had also worked in the insurance business. She was a member of the Church of the Visitation and Altar Rosary Society and was very involved in NY State Right to Life. She volunteered at Hepburn Library as well as Hospice. She enjoyed giving each of her grandchildren their first bath, traveling, dancing, country music, reading, playing Jeopardy, Scrabble, card games and spending time with her family. She also enjoyed baking as her cookie jar was popular in the neighborhood. Dawn is survived by her beloved husband of 58 years Donald 'Smiley' LaBarge; her 10 children: Marcia (Ed) Giampoli , St. Cloud, FL; Randall (Julie) LaBarge, Walworth, NY; Timothy (Jane) LaBarge, Macedon, NY; Craig (Tammy) LaBarge, Norfolk, NY; Janet Tiffany, St. Cloud, FL; Teresa (Kevin) Planty and Brenda (Fred) French both of Litchfield, NH; Claire (Vincent) Regan and Jeanne LaBarge both of Laconia, NH and Joanne (Kevin) Kinnear of Norwood, NY. She is also survived by 28 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, dozens of nieces and nephews, her brothers Lloyd King (Rita), Norfolk, NY & Ocala, FL; Bernard King (Loris), Norfolk; her sisters Beverly Avadikian, Potsdam, NY and Rita LaVigne (Dale), Norfolk, NY and her sister-in-law, Alice King, Norfolk. Dawn is preceded in death by her parents, and one brother, Richard King. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Catholic Charities, Alzhiemers.org, or to a charity of one's choice.
