NORWOOD—Funeral Services for 89 year old Vernon L. "Tunk" Bartlett, a resident of 3 Blanchard Ave, Norwood, will be held Friday at 10 a.m. at the Buck Funeral Home in Norwood with Rev. Walter Smith presiding. Burial will follow the services in Riverside Cemetery, Norwood. Family and friends may call at the Buck Funeral Home in Norwood on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Mr. Bartlett passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, October 29, 2016 at his home. Tunk is survived by his wife of 68 years, Lorraine Bartlett, retired Norwood Village Clerk of over 30 years; two daughters, Diane and Clark Schryver, York, PA; Susan Bartlett, Norwood; his six grandchildren, Kevin and Emily Enslow; Laurie Enslow and fiancé Josh Lowe, Angela Miller, Chelsea and Greg Puglese; Michelle and Paul LaBier; Joey and Melissa Ramie; his six great-grandchildren, Nick Enslow, Kyle Bent, Jordyn Miller, Peyton and Gabriella LaBier and Evrhett Ramie. Tunk is also survived by a brother, John Bartlett, Norwood; a sister-in-law, Marcia and Jim Wing and their son Greg as well as several nieces and nephews. Tunk was pre-deceased by a daughter Bonnie Enslow in 2008. Born in Miami, Florida on January 28, 1927 to the late Charles and Margaret Robertson Bartlett, Tunks parents moved to Norwood when he was an infant and has lived here all of his life. He graduated from Norwood High School in 1946 and then served two years in the U.S. Army in Panama. He married Lorraine Gibson on June 12, 1948 upon his return from the service. Tunk worked at the Reynolds Metals Plant in Massena for over 30 years as a Machinist. Tunk was a very active and diverse outdoorsman all his life. He was a past member of the Weller Mountain Club, Penn-Yann Club and was a charter member of the St. Regis Hunting Club. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, too which he even wrote about in verse and story and even a book titled "Tunk's Tales". He also had a passion for Model Airplanes, Bee Keeping, Blue Bird Nesting, in which he had bird houses all over St. Lawrence County and was a great History Buff. He was a member of the Blue Bird Society and the Model Airplane Club, RC Ground Pounders. Tunk was also a popular story teller and a "Mr. Fix It" to all that knew him.
