NORWOOD—Funeral Services for 73 year old Richard J. "Dick" Farnsworth, a resident of Pine Street, Norwood, will be held at the United Methodist Church in Norwood on Saturday, April 14, 2018 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Caspar Green presiding. Burial with Military Honors will be held in the Riverside Cemetery, Norwood. Family and friends may call at the Buck Funeral Home in Norwood on Friday evening, April 13, 2018 from 6-8 p.m. and again on Saturday, April 14, 2018 from 9 a.m. until the time of the funeral at 11 a.m. at the Church. Mr. Farnsworth passed away Saturday, March 24, 2018 at his home.
Richard is survived by his sister, Lorna M. Farnsworth, Bradenton, FL; his brother, Francis Farnsworth, as well as his nieces and nephew. Born in Potsdam, NY, on May 19, 1944 to the late Alfred and Angie Robinson Farnsworth, Dick graduated from Norwood-Norfolk Central School and entered the U.S. Navy. He served in Cuba as a photographer in the "Elite Outfit". After he was discharged from the Navy, Dick attended New York University for 2 years. All of his adult life, he enjoyed gardening and going to his camp at Boyd Pond. Dick loved traveling the world. He made 3 trips to Irian Jaya (now Papua), Indonesia to visit his sister who was a missionary there. He was a member of the Clarkson Recreation Club for over 45 years, enjoying swimming, both there and at Boyd Pond. He was a member of the Norwood United Methodist Church, where he sang in the choir.
